Everest Poker

March 18, 2006

I have played on numerous sites and inevitably with the exception of some European based sites which do not allow Americans 80% - 90% of the players are either from The USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or the poker mad Scandinavian countries.
Needless to say since many of the players from these countries have a few years experience behind them of online play and inevitably the standard has risen certainly at the middle to higher stakes games, however Everest clearly has gone after an untapped market, there are a sizable number of players from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy and The Netherlands. Not exactly the countries that readily come to mind when I think of online poker and thus far from what I’ve seen the standard of play is much more akin to the early days of online poker, clearly many of these players are guys who are just trying out poker for the 1st time and are unaware of the multi-faceted strategic side of the game and of the vast amount of excellent poker literature, poker software or online resources such as twoplustwo or http://www.firbolg.com .

So in summation the standard of play is probably the weakest I’ve seen anywhere, players tend to play weak loose, they will call if they have anything, so cut down on the bluffs but by all means bet for value.

The graphics on this site have a distinctive funky edge to them, with a very lifelike feel to them, they have obviously put a lot of thought in to this area.

At the time of writing they only offer hold em, though it appears that they have plans to expand with tabs for other games set up but just not activated yet.

You can find the type of game you are looking for easily via their game selection window in both cash games and ring games.
However the way multiple tournaments are displayed looks strange, it opens in another window, personally I don’t really like this, you can’t even order the way the tournaments are displayed in this window. So I fail to see the reasoning behind this, if you are going to do something different from the other sites then it should be an improvement.

The one area which really needs working on is the ability to take notes, there isn’t any such facility, and I think they should make this a top priority as it’s a feature that players expect to be there these days.

Their bonus structure is a bit bizarre but in a good kind of way, you get $100 bonus regardless of the amount you deposit, the way you get this back is for every $100 wagered you get $1 back. A bit unusual but of course you can just deposit a small amount like $10 if you like and if you get on a good run you get an extra $100.

As noted this site could do with some further developments but let’s be frank the bottom line for me and for any player who takes the game anyway seriously is not about how slick a site is, it’s do you stand to make money on it, to this question the answer is a definite YES, so for all those sharks out there who are running out of fish on other sites you can rub your hands with glee this is definitely the right time to take advantage of the weakest players online all on one site, this feeding frenzy won’t last for ever so why not sign up to Everest Poker here now to take advantage.
